Think of flowering trees and fragrant plants in the spring and comfortable shaded seating in the summer. As our first garden project in downtown Anacortes, the Downtown Anacortes Alliance is refurbishing the garden and sitting area at the north side of the post office to make a cozy garden respite for our community.

We started last Saturday. It was a drizzly day, but our work party came together to get the post office pocket park underway. Here’s what Lori Maul, business owner and slinger of dirt had to say about the day:

Yesterday, a group of volunteers began working on DAA’s garden rejuvenation/pocket park north of our Post Office. This was only a few of the 10 or so helpers. We hope to plant the space on April 20th, Anacortes’ celebration of Earth Day.

If you’d like to help out:

  • Donate here to help us buy plants and equipment
    • Here’s what your donation can do: $10-$50 will buy a plant; $200 will buy irrigation or a tree, $375 will buy a corten planter
  • Volunteer here if you want to join us for planting or future work parties
