Nestled in the heart of Downtown Anacortes, we’ve built a new haven – the Post Office Community Garden, just in time for Earth Day. This verdant resting place shows the power of community collaboration and the spirit of giving that thrives in Anacortes.

It began with a shared vision to transform a neglected space into a vibrant garden where locals could come together, connect with nature, and foster a sense of community pride. Thanks to the generosity of 12 community donors, 3 business donors, and the dedication of 23 volunteers who selflessly gave their time over two Saturdays (4/6/2024 & 4/20/2024) , this dream became a reality. Special thanks to Anniece Kiersky for her gardening passion and unwavering commitment to the project from start to finish.
A warm thank you goes out to our newest downtown shop, The Wishing Rock, whose generous donation and assistance in organizing and acquiring plants at cost helped bring the garden to life. Their support underscores the strength of our local business community and its commitment to making Anacortes a better place for all.
The Post Office deserves gratitude for not only clearing the way for the garden but also contributing sweat equity to its creation. Their willingness to roll up their sleeves and get involved speaks volumes about their dedication to our downtown revitalization efforts. The Anacortes Arts Festival played a crucial role in the original creation of the space years ago providing initial art and pavers that added a touch of elegance to the space.
As we admire the Crepe Myrtle trees and the leafy ferns, we are reminded of the resilience and beauty that abound in our community. The Post Office Community Garden is more than just a green space – it’s a symbol of unity, growth, and the boundless potential that emerges when we come together with a shared purpose. Here’s to many seasons of joy, connection, and community in our downtown oasis.
